S5: Undisputedly the fastest bike of the modern era
Showcasing the raw power of the Cervélo S5
The challenge
Cervélo’s brief for this content was short and simple:
“Make it frenetic”.
But when it comes to making a film celebrating the world’s fastest bike—the S5—simple just won’t cut it.
With our editors being part of our creative ideation process, we immediately saw the opportunity to make this a post-focused production.
Using our edit team’s unrivalled abilities in VFX and GFX, we started planning a truly mind-blowing product video to capture the raw energy of the S5.
Go fast, go far
With a concept like this, it’s important to not only have a clear vision of the end result but to communicate that with our clients to ensure they’re on board.
Regular test loops were produced outlining the concept and how it would look. Cervélo’s reaction? They loved it.
You’d never suspect that a drafty warehouse in Glasgow played a big part in realising the idea, but our edit team got out of the studio and directed the bike explosion sequence on the ground to ensure we captured every single shot in exactly the right way.
But we also had to see the bike being put through its paces. And who better to display jaw-dropping speed than Visma Lease a Bike’s Wout van Aert, one of the world’s top riders?
A visual masterpiece
The finished piece is quite simply stunning.
Every detail was considered. Each shot of the bike, every pixel in the projected explosion. It all had to be perfectly coordinated—and it was.
To top it all off, the launch coincided with van Aert walking away with the Green Jersey in the 2022 Tour de France.
Proof, if you still require it, that the S5 is truly the fastest bike on earth.
