Danny MacAskill
Fourteen years working with Danny. A quarter of a billion views on YouTube.
We’ve grown a lot over the years—partnering with global brands, delivering campaigns across every platform, and telling stories that stick. But through it all, one constant has been our long-standing creative partnership with our old pal Danny MacAskill.
From the early days—when our founder, Stu Thomson, filmed Danny’s first-ever DVD—to today, that collaboration has taken us on some unforgettable rides. Together, we’ve made films like Industrial Revolutions, Imaginate, The Ridge, and Wee Day Out—each one blending world-class talent with big ideas, attention to detail, and a serious work ethic.
So, in no particular order, here’s a look back at some of our favourite projects with Danny. These films have racked up over 250 million views on YouTube—and counting.
1) Gymnasium
No chain, no gain
In Gymnasium, Danny creates a personalised fitness playground in a long-forgotten hall at his local sports complex.
Even though performing a perfect bar routine while still on two wheels isn’t for everyone, Danny has found that he’s able to do what he loves and stay in shape at the same time. A never-before-seen workout routine, giving fans something completely new to experience.
2) Danny Daycare
On the hunt for a flippin’ great babysitter?
Look no further.
Danny takes on some childcare the only way he knows how: by taking them for a wee bike ride around Scotland!
*No children were involved in any stunts during the making of Danny Daycare.
3) Danny’s Wee Day Out
Wee day out, mega numbers.
Danny's Wee Day Out sets out to capture the simple fun of a bike ride in the country with moments of incredible riding and a touch of humour.
Danny pulls off never-seen-before tricks, most of which would normally be assumed impossible on a mountain bike, like leaping onto a single train track, turning a hay bale into a giant unicycle, riding over a cottage, and disappearing into a 6ft puddle.
Oh, and keep an eye out for a cameo from Danny's dad, Peter!
4) The Ridge
Cycling at its absolute peak.
For the first time in one of his films, Danny climbs aboard a mountain bike and returns to his native home of the Isle of Skye in Scotland to take on a death-defying ride along the notorious Cuillin Ridgeline.
Celebrating its tenth year out in the world, The Ridge has amassed over 80M views.
5) Imaginate
While this project wasn’t a Cut Media production, we have a lot to thank it for. It was the spark for our commander-in-chief, Stu, to form Cut Media and lead the charge to create some of the best sports content online.
It might be 12, but in our eyes, the film really has stood the test of time. It never fails to put a smile on our faces every time we watch it.
6) Industrial Revolutions
This is how it all began.
Filmed for Channel 4’s documentary Concrete Circus, Industrial Revolutions sees Danny take his incredible bike skills into an industrial train yard and some derelict buildings.
